Despite the heat, Year 4 enjoyed a ‘Smashing’ Saxons day on Monday 11th July when Wolfram visited our school. The children enjoyed learning more about the Anglo-Saxons - their weapons, how they traded, what they ate and the impact they had on England and Britain as we know them today.
They enacted battles, played games and listened to stories (sagas) as well as having the opportunity to investigate and try out many artefacts. This included finding out the challenges of wearing heavy chainmail and helmets as well as wielding a variety of (blunt) weapons!
A great day of learning and fun was had by all.
