Curriculum Information
Forest School at Thames View is an opportunity for our children and wider school community to be brave, to explore and to take risk. As adults, we are merely the facilitators of this child-led and child-centred element of our curriculum. Forest School is a chance for our children (and staff) to push themselves outside their boundaries and become well-rounded young adults.
The Forest School at Thames View is run by a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader. Our Forest School will be supported by school staff, and we hope to be able to then offer opportunities for parent helpers and volunteers to join us in the future once we are more established.
All adults that support the delivery of our Forest School will be given the opportunity to read and understand the information contained within this handbook. They will also need to sign and date to say that they understand their role and the rationale for forest school before they take part in a forest school session. This is vital as we need to ensure that all parties understand and acknowledge the principles and ethos of Forest School so that we can ensure that our children are receiving the highest quality experience.
At Thames View Primary School, we follow the school guidance for adult to children ratios. All Forest School sessions will be staffed by the class teacher and teaching assistant. On sessions where items deemed ‘higher risk’ are used the Forest School lead will join the session as the Level 3 leader.
